Called to Serve
God placed this on our hearts
We didn't go looking for this. It found us.
Quietly at first, then unmistakably, God placed it on our hearts — a pull toward serving others that we couldn't explain and couldn't set down. We'll be honest with you: we didn't always understand it. More than once, we asked again. We prayed for confirmation, half-expecting the answer to change.
It never did. The message stayed clear, the same every time we brought it to Him: go, and serve others. So that's what we're doing.
Then He told us where: Costa Rica. We weren't upset — but we didn't understand it either. It wasn't the place we would have chosen for ourselves. Still, we've learned to trust the One holding the pen. The Author has been writing this story the entire time — and the chapters we once mistook for detours turn out to be exactly where He was leading.
Because Costa Rica isn't a new direction. It's where the story comes full circle — back to the name we carry, and the promise behind it.
Help your light shine again
We believe God gave every single person a set of gifts that belongs to no one else — a particular joy, a particular passion, a particular way of being a blessing to the people around them. Life has a way of burying that. The weight, the busyness, the seasons that knock the wind out of us.
Our calling is to help people rediscover the gifts, the joy, and the passion God placed in them — to reignite the light He set inside, and help that light shine again. To help people find their true joy and step back into it. When we take the heavy, draining work off someone's plate, that's really what we're after: giving them room to be who they were made to be.
Graciela Luz
Twenty years ago, Graciela Luz was taken from this world in a terrible car accident, caused by a drunk driver. It was a painful, senseless loss — felt by so many who loved her, and never fully healed.
Grace & Light Holdings LLC is named for her. Every time we say our own name, we say hers. It is how we keep her light in the world.
A promise kept
Gracie and Shay made each other a promise — that they would spend their lives serving others, lifting people up, being the kind of presence the world needs more of. Gracie's life was cut short here on earth, but we know our Father simply called her home.
So Shay carries it. She is humbled — every day — to honor the promise they made to each other. This company is one of the ways that promise gets kept: by serving people, the way the two of them always said they would.
How we serve
We lift up those who are struggling. The ones carrying too much, quietly, for too long.
We let people be heard, and let them be seen. Not processed. Not rushed. Heard.
Healing without judgment. You don't have to have it all together to be welcome here.
Love with truth and compassion. Honest, gentle, and always for your good.
A sanctuary, by His leading
Here's where it all comes full circle. We feel God leading us somewhere specific — a sanctuary in Costa Rica: a place set apart where people can come to be still, be served, and rediscover their light. We're still listening for the details. The image below is the vision we're holding in prayer — a glimpse of what could be.
"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden... let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14–16
